With the holiday season just around the corner, the U.S. Postal Service is looking to hire about 28,000 seasonal workers and is installing 137 new package sorting machines in an effort to avoid shipping delays.
But postal worker representatives say Americans could see after-dark or even nighttime deliveries....

It can’t be done and normal hours, because droivery services don’t have enough trucks or people to drive those trucks.
Couple that with the business model of Home Delivery via delivery services such as USPS or UPS or FedEx or DLR...
Perhaps incorporating those 67,000 gun toting IRS agents into the mix maybe there’s a chance they could during normal working hours.
Our mail lady was thru at 8pm a couple nights this week. She was early last night...6pm. Not unusual to see her come thru around 7pm.

It’s becoming a big problem here in the DC metro area. Thugs are stealing not only packages from the delivery trucks, but also the mailbox keys for apartment buildings.
Worse than that in rural areas-—shots could be fired.

I searched USPS and they give exceptions such as “holidy season”.
I haven’t been able to find anything official about night delivery.
Nothing in USPS FAQ(or I just missed it). Did a search on USPS site and nada.
