We should have won the House by a comfortable margin even if Trump had done nothing. Historically, the party holding the WH loses big in the midterm. That didn’t happen.
Several of Trump’s high profile endorsements lost. Oz, Dixon, Laxalt, Masters, Lake, Mastriano, Michels are notable examples. And if the aforementioned candidates, only one ,Lake, is fighting. It also looks like Palin in Alaska is going to lose and Walker’s chances in GA look slim .
A leader who wanted McConnell replaced as minority leader in the Senate would have gotten the job done. Instead, Trump got embarrassed as most of the Senate Republicans sent Trump a big FU and voted to keep McConnell.
It remains to be seen if historians in the near future credit Trump from preventing the Democrats from keeping the House or if they assign at least some of the blame for the Republicans poor showing on Trump.
We see things differently. No one gave Trump an F-U. They gave their constituents, the American people an FU. Mitch is at 7% support nationwide (Thanks to the weakness and ineffectiveness of Trump) and the Repukes still support him fully. That says a lot. It also says a lot that people like DeSantis don’t speak out against him. You can always choose to run with safe people who will not rock the boat. Trump chose to go with a team that if they won, could help fix the country. Just getting an R elected isn’t the point and since Trump gets that, he shows himself to be a true leader for the period. You’re hilarious. Historians...hahah. I will gladly go down swinging. The DeSantis’, Romenys of the world don’t understand this moment, don’t get where the country is and clearly don’t see how fast its going there
