He’s grandstanding, and the committee will suddenly pretend to be respectful and not issue a subpeona, to make him look like a “reasonable Republican”. Same was done to Romney, same was done to McCain. Once they’d be ushered into the nomination, the media knives came back out.

Of course. That’s how it goes. As far as I’m concerned, Trump is Da Man. Everyone else is “also ran,” so let them spin their wheels, Pence, DeSantis, Liz;D, etc. My mind’s made up.
