About 20% of Toyota/Lexus sales are electrified vehicles. The Prius is getting really dated & needs an upgrade, I think. But maybe they’re just trying to keep it more affordable.

not a battery car fan here, but my ex had an 08 prius and I was impressed
good mileage, dependable, a TON of room in the back
BUT, I never had to buy her a new battery
maintenance was compulsory for warranty, and EXPENSIVE
little toy tires were prone to flats: VERY BAD
coal fired? NOT ON YOUR LIFE

The Prius was years ahead of its time. The transmission is a work of mechanical art. Of course, Prius owners can be a PITA.
