It probably has a lot to do with the conservative exodus from blue states to red states - conservatives from blue states are now living in red states and adding their votes to Republican candidates in safe seats.

That is a big factor another factor is the Census Bureau admits “mistakes” in the recent census that resulted in few seats going to red states and blue states not losing as many.

Florida is a prime example, all the talk before the census was Florida was going to get 4 additional seats, they ended up getting 2, which Republicans would have likely won, which amounts to a net gain of 4 if the loses would have come from blue states.

Which is good the red states are red but it leaves a hole in the state they left and gives the vote over to the dems.

That also helped Florida. Registered Republicans outnumber Dem’s by quite a bit.

Florida had the perfect storm in having a Governor, state legislature, AG and population that are all on the same page. And all contributed to creating an atmosphere where the legislature and Governor can pass and sign into law, things that allow actual ‘free and fair elections’.
