DeSantis Sees Big Gains in Florida School Board Races

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' unprecedented efforts to endorse school board members for election paid big dividends, with 5 of his 6 favored candidates winning their runoffs Tuesday, results that deliver the Republican governor a total of 24 victories out of 30 local education candidates he backed this year.

Politico reported parental rights have been a key battle cry for DeSantis, believed to be the first Florida governor to endorse school board members. The governor, who easily won reelection Tuesday, spurred the GOP-led Florida Legislature to pass bills such as the "Parental Rights in Education" law, labeled by opponents as "Don't Say Gay."

The legislation bans teachers from leading classroom lessons on gender identity and sexual orientation for children in kindergarten through third grade. Republicans also are pushing for expanding school choice and transparency about what students are learning in school, particularly on race and gender identity.

I have heard this about school boards is true across the country.

If true it will be one of the very significant far reaching election results no one is talking about. Its where the leftist kooks began decades go.

President DeSantis. Those are two words I’d like to see in the headlines in the future.

DeSantis is actually doing something about School reform, I think he and the Virginia Gov are the only two. The GOP is full of underperformers.

I’ve seen some school board members newly elected trying to make changes only to be stonewalled by others.

It is the biggest problem in our country. Unless we reclaim education, we will see an increase in leftism and all of its agenda aimed at making humanity suffer.

He will be President and this will be by primarying Trump. Set off a civil war here by the Fat White Beer Belly Crowd who worships Trump. DeSantis shows how you beat a Democrat. It isn’t tweeting, sniping at other Republicans, and just coming off as a whiney b*tch.

Florida and DeSantis are a ray of sunshine in the otherwise dismal world of the GOP.

We have a few good leaders who think in terms of what will be good for the country and how to lay the groundwork for the next 50 years, and that is rare. We need more foundational work on what some would consider little details and less drama.

And proud that my niece, Megan Wright, is now Brevard County's new District 1 School Board member, one of the 24!

You are correct. Why the people on this forum worship Trump is beyond me. At the Latrobe, PA, rally, he kept pointing to polls that were being displayed on a big screen behind him. They showed him beating Joe Biden. I got news for Trump—that’s yesterday’s race. You’re living in the past. Biden will not be the nominee in 2024. The Democrats aren’t that dumb.

Trump is typical of old geezers—they live in the past and rehash old battles. He’s 71 years old now. How old will he be in 2024?? And he will not have changed anything—he’s still insulting his opponents and calling them names—now he’s on to DeSantis with a dumb insult. Haven’t people had enough of him? He is not popular nationally except for his acolytes who are willing to stand for hours waiting for one his rallies just for the opportunity to get one of his hats or a glimpse of his big, shiny plane. Pathetic.

And I voted for him twice, but not again. Not after what happened last night. I can’t think of why any candidate would want to be on the stage with him
