Unfortunately, this is just who Trump is. I have long said that if Trump had Reagan's tact and wit, he would be unstoppable. But a leopard can't change his spots.
Trump will always be dependent on earning the votes of those who absolutely can't stand him, but who loathe his opponent even more.
It worked in 2016. Not so much in 2020.
Will it work in 2024? Who knows? But Trump (and many of his followers) seem determined to challenge the electorate by behaving as repugnant as possible while demanding, "You still gotta vote for me! What else are you gonna do?"
