That was a really trashy thing to say. Melania hasn’t done anything to anyone.

She worked at a television station in Phoenix for many years, before that she worked in several other states as a reporter, anchor etc.

Well gee, if Trump though he would be handed the nomination he wouldn’t have acted like he had a rival. Duh

"I think DeSantis, Lake and Youngkin need to give 100% of their efforts to governing their states while Biden is president. They are our best hope for keeping the country alive until then. All three could possibly be great presidential candidates in 2028."

Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears would make a fine Governor of Virginia. No worries.

Look, I'm not anti-DeSantis, but what he brings is 'everyone under 60 wants to live in Florida'. I already do part-time, so I get America-As-Florida.

But bringing VA into Trump's electoral fold completely shuts off the Democrats in 2024.

I mean, under a VA-goes-red scenario, the Democrats could have a best-case scenario in 2024, keep WI/MI/PA, and still LOSE: 275-263-ish. (Frankly if you win VA you almost surely win PA as well due to the election dynamics, but that's an esoteric discussion that maybe 10 Freepers understand).

2024 is a simple, 3-issue election. The economy, the parent's primary role in public schools vs CRT & f^--all "woke-ism", and the goddamn migras/pendejo/mojado horde invasion.

Trump, finally with a MAGA Army in Congress, will force the GOP would get with the program and put the hammer down on these public school systems that are (a) ignoring these threats to public safety -- almost every killer at the top of the list in the last 10 years was a teenager or young adult that the public school system failed to appropriately send to prison; and (b) we can use (a) to punch down on the marxists in public education.

It would dovetail perfectly with conservative grassroot action to eliminate CRT & trans nonsense in schools ... And who has done that best?

Youngkin celebrated his Inauguration by punching CRT in its ugly face.

Among other immediate anti-CRT actions, Gov. Youngkin rooted out a Marxist plan to permanently overwhelm Virginia high-school and middle-school math classes with CRT, called VMPI (I called it "VaMPIre"), and stopped it COLD in his first week in office.

The gasoline on this fire was a 2018 Marxist mathifesto -- "Catalyzing Change in High School Mathematics" -- which was overloaded with CRT newspeak, a book specifically designated to be the Marxist spearhead to introduce CRT into American public school mathematics:

Now think about this. VaMPIre was purposefully constructed so that students would go from class-to-class and never be able to escape CRT. The Marxist end goal.

Who wrote this nonsense? Surprise, surprise, the National Council of Teachers and Mathematics, and their "woke math" series, injecting CRT into math on the basis of one ridiculous Soviet-style agitprop screed: Roach-hell Gutierrez' "Building Support for Scholarly Practices in Mathematics Methods":

"On many levels, mathematics itself operates as whiteness. Who gets credit for doing and developing mathematics, who is capable in mathematics, and who is seen as part of the mathematical community is generally viewed as white...perpetuate a perception that mathematics was largely developed by Greeks and other Europeans."

DeSantis had 3 1/2 goddamn years to get his "Stop WOKE Act" done -- Youngkin stopped it in one week!

Trump will nationalize Youngkin's perfect campaign portrayal of the public school system in the US as completely out of f'ing control, and the Democrats will have to radically realign both personnel and assets to deal with the best 'disruptor' paradigm since Trump seized on illegal immigration in 2016.

How many times have we heard that Trump is a counterpunch ...

I've been hearing this 'Trump is a counter puncher' business for years, and of late I have a new interpretation of it. Trump's behavior is what you see when a narcissist is dealt what psychologists call a 'narcissistic injury.' They react with over-the-top vitriol over a slight, or a disagreement, real or imagined. They cannot take the slightest criticism, and rarely take advice that contradicts their own preferred course of action. I think DeSantis unwittingly inflicted a narcissistic injury on Trump when he endorsed O'Dea. The endorsement was likely not a rebuke of Trump, and probably had nothing to do with him. But Trump considers it such because O'Dea said he would actively campaign against Trump.

This is why so many people close to Trump end up getting thrown under the bus by him, and he's left with two kinds of people: yes men, and people who expect him to turn on them eventually and therefore have no real loyalty to him.

I've seen many Freepers wishing for a Trump/DeSantis ticket. I hope DeSantis stays as far away from Trump as possible because if he ends up as VP or in a Trump cabinet, he will end up under the bus and a pariah to many Freepers just as Pence did. If Trump runs, I believe he will get the nomination. I hope he gets a running mate who doesn't want to be president, because it will be the end of his or her political career.

I was happy to vote for Trump, and he did great things as president. Even against the tide of constant unfair attacks from the press and the ridiculous campaign from the Commiecrats to remove him from office and criminally prosecute him for made-up crimes like 'collusion.' I defended him to some leftist former friends. I thank him for nominating the Supreme Court justices who ended Roe v. Wade. But now it's time for him to go and let someone else take up the mantle.

Trump should play with peoples minds by referring to “Vice President Desantis” and then correct himself, “I mean Gov Desantis”

Then he could say, “excuse me I had a Biden moment”

Your reply offers much to ponder.

I am uninformed about "narcissistic injury" theory and I am instinctively skeptical of psychological analysis but this theory does offer a single explanation for the multitude of individuals who turned on Trump or who were turned upon by Trump.

With a body count as long as Trump's, one must conclude that the single consistent element is Trump himself. One is hard-pressed to believe that so many people have one weakness of character or another that causes them to fall out with Trump. Heretofore, I had thought that the problem was that Trump was simply a bad judge of character and and abrasive personality which was a toxic combination destined to cause personality conflicts. This theory offers another explanation.

I agree that Trump has done great things as president, causing me to adjust my initial negative assessment of him based on his biography and demeanor. Frankly, I was appalled by the rough treatment those of us who saw virtue in others received at the hands of Trump bots in this forum. I felt then and continue to feel that that represented an abandonment of reason for personality in a rather shameful episode. Nevertheless, I have come to approve of Trump's policies and more or less enured to his raw edges, as I expect most of the Republican Party has become.

Beyond that, I have taken the position that it is important for the rule of law that Trump be returned to office. If Trump is defeated by corrupt law enforcement we will have established a standard a political and juridical behavior that is ultimately fatal to a civil society.

I understand that one does not conduct successful politics by looking in the rearview mirror. Furthermore, I understand that we owe Trump nothing, the question is not whether Trump should get full justice personally but whether our constitutional system of politics and rule of law will be vindicated.

Further, I believe with you that Trump will get the nomination but of all the possible candidates that come readily to mind, Trump is not more certain to win. As much as he stimulates the Republican base, he is equally competent to excite the Democrat base. The media will play it's role to the hilt with Trump but it would be less biased against other Republicans. It simply would be a heavier lift for Trump.

The American mindset concerning Trump has been set and electioneering is unlikely to change how Trump is viewed. If his record in office did not redeem him in the eyes of the electorate and bring him a landmark victory, I doubt that Joe Biden's pathetic record will either. To the degree that elections are menus of hope as well as referenda on incumbents, a newcomer like DeSantis has an advantage.

In other words Trump would carry the disadvantages rather than the advantages of an incumbent without the advantages of a newcomer.

But Trump will take the nomination if he wants it and when he does, we owe it not to Donald Trump but to the country to support him to the hilt.

I see, you don’t like the private sector career Lake had. Would you have any issues supporting government politicians who’ve never worked in the real world outside of government?

I said I am not thrilled with it. Don’t construe it into something I didn’t say. My preference is for people who have experience in producing a product at the end. For people who hired & fired, understand where money comes from. In short people who deal in reality! Broadcasting ids similar to entertainment, one deals in the image not the physical real. That being said Reagan came from something similar and turned out well. However is that from his professional experiences or the fact he came out of the Depression-WWII era. Probably all of the above! So its likely Lake will be ok to good but don’t be surprised that over time she evolves RINO.

I look askance at the professional politician class. I prefer to vote against it if I can. If it comes down to a conservative pro-pol against a Rat. I’ll vote the conservative pro-pol. I’ll vote mediocre before I vote crazy socialist Rat.

We lose America if Trump is the candidate in 2024 because they will throw everything at him to defeat him. We have a much better choice with Ron DeSantis or some other candidate. Trump will find that out in a 2024 primary season.

Look, private sector work is honorable and gives people real life experience, the real deal, where one can be fired for any reason at any time. The opposite for those far removed in career/unionized government positions. And it really doesn’t matter if you’re thrilled with her career choice or not. You’ll likely see Lake in the White House one day. Like Trump, another outspoken outsider wins tomorrow and will take over as governor in Arizona. I like outsiders who’ve been on the streets, down here on the ground.

We’ll see!
Career choices do matter to a greater or lesser degree.
It depends on what you learn from them.
