Yea because in the summer, we WANT the sun to go down.
I love AZ but only 10 months out of the year.

there is talk of putting New England in the Atlantic time zone. (hour earlier than Eastern time zone). It will never happen but i would be okay with it. In winter here its dark at 4pm

If they were going to make a time permanent, I would prefer it to be standard time. Savings times messes with the time zones bad enough on its own.

The system now is too simple.
Obviously they should set time ahead 10 minutes every month for 6 months and then reverse that for 6 months. There can be a cabinet level “Time Czar” and a whole new bureaucracy to randomly stop people to enforce the mandate and fine them if their watch is wrong.
Ask your neighbor, “What time is it?”. If you see something, say something!

Good, that means there’s a chance to change it in the right direction eventually.

But it’s fun listening to the cranks who think it’s one of the top issues facing the world

An hour? C’mon man!

They always say "Studies show Daylight savings causes this or that" but they never mention what studies or where.

SC passed DST last year, but it won’t go into effect because “congress hasn’t approved it.” What? Why can Arizona keep the same time but SC has to have fed approval?

They let it die through inaction. Changing the clocks is stupid.

Well ya...people are at work in the morning. Who cares if it’s dark. But they are home in the evenings when they can enjoy some sunlight. Having natural light when one is home means not having to turn the lights on as early. I think it may help some folks with seasonal depression.

Turning the clocks back means it’s dark when you leave in the morning to go to work, and dark when your work day has ended. It means power usage at both ends of the day for longer periods of time.

Since companies want to be consistant in their hours, it leaves us having to cope with lighting issues. Regardless of what a clock says, there are so many hours in a day and as those days shorten, using that light to our advantage is key.
It’s abeautiful thing to see a sunrise, but if you’re at work when that happens, then it’s nice to enjoy a sunset after work. If you havetomiss them both..that sux.

The Constitution give Congress (Article I, Section 8, Clause 5), the power to set Standards for Weights and Measures. This includes time which is a Measure.

So states can not make their own Daylight savings time rules or jump time zones unless Congress allows it.

The current law allows states like Arizona to opt out, but if a State follows DST they can only follow the current approved DST from March to November. So SC can't expand that to year round.

This is good because then every state/region would have their own DST rules and that would be confusing as hell. This way all states are on the same page.

I don’t live in the lower elevations such as Phoenix, so we don’t get that heat. We did our homework prior to bailing out of CA. ☺

Don’t worry, it’s only a matter of time until the rest of the country follows Arizona.

Why make Daylight Savings Time the standard, why not make Standard Time the standard?

Making DST the standard is a de facto movement of time demarcation away from Greenwich, England.

So people think they actually get an extra hour of sunlight? And they’re cool with it being dark until after 8am though?

More like 6:30 and dark at about 4:

Someone noted that because it is deer mating season, with clocks being set back, for about a 2 week period, there is a 15% greater chance of hitting a deer with your car.
