As I understand it, the lawsuits are based on the notification time required for a layoff.
But I’ve been involved in layoffs (I did payroll so had to be involved) and don’t recall any lengthy notification process.
Though the laws may have been changed since.
I believe layoff laws vary depending on the state.
Calif requires 60 days.
MUSK is paying them for 90 days.
I would bet that is why the Feb 2 day still employed date.

60 days is California law. Feb 2023 is more than 60 days. Twitter is safe.
I believe the laws vary by state and would expect CA’s to be pro-worker, but I haven’t heard of any that require more than a few months of notice/coverage and I’d expect this three months of standard pay is CA compliant. Team Musk has been a major CA employer for quite some time.
