About 30yrs ago Badlands,a notorious gay bar in the West Village, right near where the Village People did their YMCA video,was shot up. The reporting cycle went as such:
The media went crazy when it was learned the shooter was, as the old song goes, "the son of a preacher man"
The media really went ape 💩 when it was revealed his father was no ordinary preacher but an NYPD CHAPLAIN
Less than 48hrs later the shooter's mug shot was on the covers of the NY Post and Daily News and wouldn't ya know it, it was a BLACK guy.
And just like that the story.... silently.... faded....away
