True hemp is a cannabis variety. It is not marijuana. Hemp has little to no THC (tetrahyrocannabidol) the psychoactive agent the stoners need more and more of to get high.
Hemp long ago affiliated by William Randolph Hearst’s news empire, with marijuana/pot/jazz musicians and reprobates. All because in those days— there were competing newspapers who used hemp manufacturing paper companys for their printing stock. Hearst lobbied against pot/marijuana and threw in hemp (which one cannot get high off of in any realistic quantity of smoking).
Hearst’s buddies back then— were the paper/lumber harvesters who were threatened by the very cheap to make hemp paper.
It held through WWII— when the need for HEMP ship’s ropes and hawsers required a special bill to waiver the import of largely Canadian hemp for US rope/hawser manufacturers. An interesting look into the politic of William Randolph Hearst. Clinically wrong totally about hemp.
