we’ll see. they can search comments and object methods/functions at first. focus the initial search on well exercised code with debug flags on. it depends on how many tools are available in the development workbench and language compilation packages, unit testing, etc.
anybody familiar with the twitter setup?
Agreed, but I hope the code review is at least a bit more worthwhile than what has happened on Hyperloop or Boring so far.
As a software engineer myself, I wouldn’t call it unlucky - I can’t imagine a more fun assignment! Wouldn’t you want to?
“Trying to review all of the code for a briefing to Musk early next week is going to result in weekend work for some unlucky Tesla engineers, and it will only be a high-level review. In-depth code reviews take time.”
I actually consider those engineers lucky. The bonuses they will get for doing this will be incredible. Great team to be on right now.
Believe me he is paying them BIG BUCKS for this work, they won’t mind working the weekend!!
I am gaining to go out on a limb here and predict there will be more than a few tattle tails in the wings.
Why do you call them "unlucky"?
To me, this sounds like a plum assignment, demonstrating that these engineers are considered the best and most reliable that Elon has. And, it is a hugely interesting project. If any of these "unlucky" engineers want to pass I am certain there will be volunteers to take their place.
There are probably bonuses for discovering any back doors or traps in the code.
