Tulsi is mirroring her father Mike Gabbard who was a conservative Catholic republican who switched parties after narrowly winning a seat in the HI senate. He knew he couldn’t get anything done as part of the minority and was reelected with 75% margins. He strongly opposed gay marriage and Tulsi used to as well - politicians change.
