The protesters should have been given all the food and drink they wanted. A nice chocolate desert laced with Ex-Lax would be a nice touch. Leave them in place. They glued themselves, so obviously they don’t want to be moved. Let them figure how to get out of that ‘mess’.
Now you’re talking!
No.
Not interfering with their protest in any way, shape, or form is the way to go.
Once VW renders aid, they are under legal obligations to do it properly—that also means do no harm.
Had VW provided pans the protestors could urinate and defecate in that would have opened the door to VW to be legally responsible to providing all kinds of things: clothing, food, medical care, you name it.
By taking a completely hands off approach they can let the protestors suffer without bearing any legal responsibility.
Do they turn the lights off at night and lower the temperature normally? They can keep doing that because they aren’t interfering with the protestors, just following their normal procedure.
Are food and beverages banned from the hall? They can keep that policy in place. Are visitors banned certain hours? Is the hall closed on weekends? No problem to keep to their regular schedule.
These “glue yourself to the floor” protestors count on police coming along immediately to help them out of their fix. They don’t count of the target saying “we support your protest” and leaving them there for days on end.
A few examples of people sitting in their own excrement for a few days and these glue-protests will come to a quick end. You don’t need to hasten them with tricks like laxatives. That will only make people feel sorry for the protestors.
