Members of the brigade published a video to social media on October 13,

Imagine if social media existed in World War 2. Ordinary soldiers and civilians griping, reporting, and taking selfies at Dunkirk, Pearl Harbor, Stalingrad, Midway, Iwo Jima, Auschwitz, Normandy Beach, from submarines and bomber airplanes and battleships.

Social media has changed the whole face of war. In the old days, governments had greater control over the flow of information. Now everyone with a cell phone is a photo journalist and pundit.

Social media IMO amplifies deficient leadership and breakdowns in the chain of command. Any postings of operational information should be dealt with harshly.

Limiting social media would have been a major distraction back when I was a Platoon Leader, though.
