Nobody goes to war with the army they want. But having to make do with the army he has, is leaving Vladimir Putin in something of a bind.
And no, nuclear tactical strikes are not a substitute for boots on the ground for securing territory. Boots that seem to be particularly reluctant to tread on the territory which is to be occupied.

Putin did EXACTLY that with his “Special Military Operation” invasion of Ukraine. This would all be over if Putin withdrew.
