$5.9 B / 800 M = $7.375 per paper mask.
Someone got a really fat government contract.

They laughed at Trump for warning them. Did Trump warn them that the CIA would blow up their pipelines and leave them in the dark?
I kinda doubt it.

"
Also, they spent taxpayer $$ (whatever) for masks with a “use by date”?"
They bought in bulk, on a state level, and STILL paid about $7.37 per disposable paper covering.
Imagine being stupid enough to pay $737.00 for a box of 100 of these:
A scam on so many levels.

I wondered how much a box of 100 of these essentially useless face coverings cost...
$9.99 for a box at Walmart.
And, not surprisingly, they have this in the disclaimer:
- Blue face mask protects wearer from dust & SOME particles
- 3 ply disposable face masks are for general purpose use ONLY
- Not tested or certified
= useless for protection against viruses. Yet, they were omnipresent in much of the nation/world, as if they were a great idea.

They might as well start burning their paper money while they are at it.

should say...
omnipresent/required in much of the nation/world
What an embarrassingly ANTI-science couple of years there. All started as a means to finally get rid of Trump.

The words “Germany” and “thermal recycling” in the same sentence kinda gives me the creeps.

What do they care? It’s not their money.

We had a co generator nat gas incinerator in our town when I grew up. They burnt mostly paper and plastic and it added BTU. But we didn’t spend 6 billion on the waste.

Ah, this is one of those moments of delicious irony that you have to savor to get you through those dry spells in life.
