Fears were raised today that Belarus could join the conflict in Ukraine after President Alexander Lukashenko announced he will deploy a 'joint military task force' with Russia on the country's western border.
The dictator said this was in response to what he said was a clear threat to Belarus from Kyiv and its backers in the West, claiming without evidence that that Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine were training Belarusian 'radicals' for terror attacks, after announcing plans to deploy joint troops with Moscow.

'Strikes on the territory of Belarus are not just being discussed in Ukraine today, but are also being planned,' Lukashenko said at a meeting on security, without providing evidence for the assertion.
'Their owners are pushing them to start a war against Belarus to drag us there.'
'We have been preparing for this for decades. If necessary, we will respond,' Lukashenko said, adding that he had spoken to Putin about the situation while at a meeting in St Petersburg.

'My answer was simple: 'Tell the president of Ukraine and the other lunatics: if they touch one metre of our territory then the Crimean Bridge will seem to them like a walk in the park'.'
He also claimed Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine were training Belarusian 'radicals' to carry out terror attacks in his country.
'The training in Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine of Belarusian radical militants for them to carry out sabotage, terrorist attacks and to organise a military mutiny in the country is becoming a direct threat,' Lukashenko said.

“The dictator...”
How is he any different than Zelensky who has banned all opposition political parties, arrested opposition leadership, seized all media and hunts down and jails/kills any dissenters?
Belarus keeps letting Russia fire missles from it’s territory and let it invade from Belarus territory. So as far as I’m concerned. Belarus is already in this war and is fair game.
I’m just hoping Belarus doesn’t just target Ukraine but does something to tick NATO off.
If Belarus starts a war with NATO, and NATO invades Belarus, what will Russia do?
“Long convoys of heavy weaponry are being transferred in Belarus to the border with Ukraine. This is according to local telegram channels and claimed eyewitnesses.”

Deploying on the border forces Ukraine to maintain a respectable force to face off with them.
I doubt they will actually enter the conflict. They’ve already given away a lot of their helicopters and armor, and at one point their officers warned them against any invasion.
There are a number of Belarusians already in the theater fighting for Ukraine. So Lukashenko’s position is precarious.

Belarus won’t join the war, because if he does he knows there’s a very real chance Lukashenko will face an armed uprising and, like Gaddafi, will wind up sodomized by a bayonet in a ditch. Not worth it.
How do you say “Il Duce” in Belorussian?
As FDR once said about a Central American tyrant, he's a sonovab*tch but he's our sonovab*tch.
Ukraine and Poland have been preparing for this and with NATO and USA help, setting up defenses as well as offensive force over the past 6 months. They’re ready.
Sherlock, Ukraine has had 5 presidents since the KGB corporal occupied the Kremlin over 20 years ago. Ukraine has a mostly function democracy unlike one party state fascist Russia. It’s common sense that certain wartime measures would be taken by a country being invaded. Particularly with a Quisling Fifth Column.
This will be the extent of it. Threatening Ukraine loudly allows him to display his support for Putin without actually having to get bloody.
Thats my prediction, at least. If I'm wrong we'll all find out together.
If that happened Lukashenko's own soldiers would shoot him. That's why this whole thing is silly - Lukashenko will do the minimum necessary to keep Putin happy but he's not going to commit suicide.
This is how world wars get going. Thanks Biden, you stupid fvck.
Scumbagski.
Thats easy. They were legal until the war started. Once the war started, once the Russians invaded, it became illegal to support Russia openly. No big surprise there. Ukrainian officers and officials who were found to be communicating with Russia get arrested, and some meet a bad end. Its war.
It IS true that Belarus’ opposition is calling for the partisans to rise up:

I don’t think they need any egging on from outside, to be honest...
Yeah, well, that's what some said about Germany in 1939, in fact, there were several plots against Hitler back in 1938, but after The Sudetenland, Hitler was untouchable.
The opposition leader is currenly in Lithuania.
