Russia fired cruise missiles at cities across Ukraine during rush hour on Monday morning, killing civilians and knocking out power and heat, in what President Vladimir Putin declared to be revenge for Ukrainian attacks including on a bridge to Crimea.
The missiles tore into busy intersections, parks and tourist sites in the center of downtown Kyiv with an intensity not seen even when Russian forces attempted to capture the capital early in the war.
Explosions were also reported in Lviv, Ternopil and Zhytomyr in western Ukraine, Dnipro and Kremenchuk in central Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia in the south and Kharkiv in the east.

—” Why do you even care about this war that isn’t a concern of ours at all? It seems that you are way to involved with this than a normal person should be.”
A good question.
And difficult to answer definitely.
Some of the inputs that guided my thinking:
In simple terms, the domino theory in action.
“History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes,” a fitting but fake Mark Twain quote.
Should Putin fatten up by eating his neighbors, he will not stop. Can’t eat just one.
Before Putin’s greed overwhelmed him, he could have managed his energy sales to help the unfortunate Mother Russia, but no.
The Russian economy was similar to that of Mexico, some say a gas station with nukes in the back. Name a successful consumer product from Russia.
Some underlying form:
SOCEUR and Resistance Operating Concept (ROC)
https://sof.news/uw/resistance-operating-concept/
There is a lot going on down here, when you see the stories of the old man shooting down an Su24 with his shotgun, it likely originated from ROC. Even more interesting considering the origin.
This is about the “hearts and minds” v. II. Russia puts a lot of resources into their version without much success. (Another surprise)
Clausewitz claimed “war is a continuation of politics by other means,” (a google translation, actual words may vary.)
Putin may eventually gain something. But a Pyrrhic victory of historic portions. Not tomorrow, not soon but coming is the collapse of the Russian Federation. Selection of conscripts from minority groups beyond Moscow and Saint Petersburg (home of his boyars). And gross mistreatment of most of his army... People notice and the survivors will be sure to tell; “Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,”. Word gets out.
With the 0bama recession, some of my neighbors were wiped out, and many that moved in were from Eastern Europe adding to a fair number of Polish. Also, a large and beautiful Ukrainian church was built a few miles from my position.
I have not met any East Europeans that do not have a hatred of Putin.
A few tasty perogies and they influenced my views.
The attack on the Kerch Bridge may be remembered like the raid on Vermork Norway?
Probably sometime before, we learn any factual details.
‘Who Dares Wins’.
Not a warmonger and I bear the scars of being shot in the face, RVN 1969.
—” way to involved with this than a normal person should be.”
Perhaps, but who claims to be normal?
Thank you for a fair question most replies on Ukraine threads are purulent drool, wasting time.
Karma. Throw lit cigarette butts at a bear in a cage everyday, because you can, and one day the door to the cage is open and the bear is looking at you... Who woulda’ think.
Dumb means unable to speak. Grunt is American slang for an infantry man. If you had stopped there you would be ahead, but no, you continued and did speak but said nothing comprehensible. Why?
And having pissed his opinion on the fire hydrant, the dog moves on... This is just bar talk without drinks. Your opinion doesn’t matter, get it? You can’t change anything. Go fight with the Ukrainians or run for public office... make a commitment, don’t just whine.
And on his birthday, no less. Statement anyone?
They didnt “march” ala putins invasion. They asked to become part of nato for good reason as recents events show.
Of course my opinion doesnt matter except when it influences my vote.
And neither does yours.
So what was your point?
You can’t fix stupid.
What comes after the collapse of the Russian Federation? The New World Order that gobbles us all up?
Why wasn't it an end in itself to topple the Soviet Union? Those were the guys who supported the RVN and Viet Cong. Why do the warmongering crusaders still want to destroy Russia.
President Trump was on the way to a fruitful understanding with President Putin. He could have aligned US with Putin against the CCP, the WEF, the Open Society Foundations and the CFR schemers trying to take us down.
What government would you allow the Russian people to have if it is all torn down? Even after the collapse of the Russian Federation as you wish, would that be enough? Or would Joe Biden want to "Build Back Better" the nation formerly known as Russia at our expense?
—”What comes after the collapse of the Russian Federation? “
Similar to the last Russian break up (1991), but a weak Russia with a hollow army.
Every hamlet and burg wants control of their own destinies and most have deep-seated grudges against most of their neighbors. After 1991 Russia bigfooted “peace” agreements to glom as they saw fit.
This time they do not have the juice.
My guess is Turkey wants to be a player, and China has plans and muscle to take what they like.
—”President Trump was on the way to a fruitful understanding with President Putin. “
Agree.
—” Why do the warmongering crusaders still want to destroy Russia.”
Putin is doing that all by himself.
Sometimes called an “escalation of commitment to failure”.
At some point, Putin’s direction and that of his boyars will separate.
Putin might want to play with fire, but his boyars and generals, not so much...
—”What government would you allow the Russian people to have if it is all torn down? “
What did they do in ‘91?
—” Even after the collapse of the Russian Federation as you wish, would that be enough? Or would Joe Biden want to “Build Back Better” the nation formerly known as Russia at our expense?”
WAKE UP, you are having a bad dream.
Where do you think it is going?
May you live in interesting times. (As they say.)
