If you will, can you answer a couple of questions for me? I’ve described the current Russian regime as a totalitarian fascist dictatorship. Would you agree with that assessment? If not, how would you describe it? Certainly not as a pluralistic liberal democracy? (Meaning liberal in the classical sense, not as the term as been hijacked by the ‘progressive’ Left.)

Also, do you believe that the Ukrainians are a separate nationality from the Russians, with right to their own country, or are they just ‘Little Russians’ who speak a dialect of Russian and who rightfully should be ‘reunited’ with Mother Russia?

I suspect, but could be a wrong, that your answers would explain why we are supporting different sides in this war.

I don’t know about “cranked” but I can tell you why I support neither side. Yes, Ukraine is a sovereign nation and yes, Putin was absolutely wrong to invade. But considering the back story to the Russian invasion, I can see a warped personality (Putin), after good faith efforts to right the wrongs perpetuated by NATO and Ukraine over a long period of time taking drastic action on his own.

When the USSR dissolved, Russia did receive assurances that NATO would not encroach their borders. The borders were encroached. Their have been many conferences between the two sides on issues affecting a peaceful co-existence. Putin was pushing for the Minsk agreements to either follow or renegotiate. Ukraine opposed everything that led to any kind of deal. And much of the Ukrainian position was engineered by Vice-President Biden, the shadow Ukrainian government in those years. I do condemn Putin for the invasion, but for the Russian and Ukrainian peoples I would like to see a cease-fire and eventual resolution and settlement of issues for both countries.

And in my view Trump is the only person that can make that happen.

Ukraine has treated their Russian-speaking population miserably. Donetsk City had been shelled for eight years. It was clear Ukraine never intended to honor the 2015 peace treaty they signed with Russia, recognizing the self-governance of Donetsk and Luhansk. It's one thing to ignore a peace treaty, but it's on another level to brag about ignoring the peace treaty you signed. My big question is why did Putin wait so long to finally intervene. Credit the Trump administration for averting war for four years.
