This war shows that Russia’s military poses no threat to Europe. It’s too weak. So the idea that we have to stop Russia in Ukraine in order to protect Europe from invasion down the road is ludacris. However, a cornered and humiliated Russia *is* a threat to Europe and the entire world because they are a nuclear super power. We are turning a regional conflict into a possible nuclear war. Unwise, very unwise.

That’s why a negotiated peace settlement is the best option.

The war shows that Russia's military is too weak now. However, if they spend the next 5 years rebuilding, rearming, and retraining, who knows? That's especially true since most of the negotiated settlement proposals end up with Russia having more territory than when they began this war, putting them in a more advantageous position at the start of the next war than they were at the start of this one.
