Pardon me for changing the subject, but was just reading this fellow’s blog, who maintains that the pipelines may have blow up due to the build up of methane hydrate crystals, apparently something happens in pipelines - especially those filled up with gas and sitting.

One might be an accident. Two stretches that to extreme implausibility.
It was like 911. The first plane could have been a massive screwup. But when the second plane hit, I knew we were at war.
This would be a great OP post so it could be highlighted. Good chance some other engineers could kick in educated opinions. I like this guy. It would be interesting to kick back some brews some evening together with this guy and swap stories.
