The eye of Ian made landfall at Tampa bay, 126 miles to the north.
Ft Myers got some wind and rain.
.
It’s abiotic.
CNN at it again.
From April, sorta related and with a big FWIW....

Ian landfall at Cayo Costa just west of Cape Coral is a lie by NHC and the media?
Gas and propane generator households did just fine.
“The storm uprooted trees and tore shingles from roofs, but other than that Grande said there is no major damage”
Of course CNN had to embellish the story. but this just might explain the “Miracle of Babcock Ranch”. My guess is they were far enough south & inland to escape major damage.
Then, If the panels & batteries were not damaged and if the water treatment plant was not damaged and they are using satellite internet, there is no reason to doubt their “miracle”
I suspect this to be an exaggeration of sorts. I did a Google Earth search on Babcock Farms and what I found could hardly qualify as a town, sitting just northeast of an area comprising about one square mile of nothing but row after row of tightly-spaced solar panels. A natural disaster could wipe out ninety-nine percent of those panels and they’d still have enough left to power the one-horse area they call a town.
Wait….wut? You living in this hurricane season or seasons past? Tampa wasn’t hit at all. They got lucky.
Right. This is a propaganda piece.

You sure about thst?
That’s what being further inland will get you
Other than that meh
Sarcasm?

Got a lunatic lib across the street with thousands of dollars of solar panels all over his roof.
They and the system have fallen into disrepair and he refuses to spend $7k to bring it back in order.....I guess he thought the system would function forever without needing any attention whatsoever.
Typical lib right?
Hmmm...
Here, on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay south of Annapolis, MD, I can see many homes with solar panels that were not affected by Ian...
It works!
It works!
🙄😏
smells like Walter Duranty reporting on the USSR
where is his pulitzer?
I throw the BS flag on cnn’s ‘story’…
350 panels per house
wow thats a lot
Solar panels have their uses when properly applied. But if you think you’re going to make the money back that you spend on them, you are fooling yourself.
I have a few that I experiment with. I can keep a fridge and freezer going indefinitely by pairing panels with a decent sized battery.
I didn’t do it to save money. I also didn’t involve a third party, so it wasn’t that expensive anyway.
I don’t think I’d try to replace my utility feed, but I could do it if I wanted to, and wanted to spend a lot of money that I’d never get back.
