I’ll keep my 1997 Corolla thank you. Still runs great!
My dad got sort of roped into buying a Pinto that mom wanted since it belonged to a friend of hers.
Parts are very tough to find.
Obama’s cash for clunkers is also a contributor.
You can get electronic ignition conversion kits. They fit right where the points would go. No wires, no computers.
CC
Become? Have been since Cash for Clunkers.
Anything that was beater status 13 yrs ago probably would be dead by now anyway.
I did that to my 65 Willys jeep.
Very noticeable difference for the better.
Eventually I will get it back together.
The long awaited repair surgery that is upcoming has held up so much.
I disagree. Up until Covid I could find decent small cars for 3 grand, put in maybe 500 in parts plus new rubber and have a pretty solid car.
My newest vehicle is 19 years old.
It runs fine and if it breaks
I can fix it good as new.
I have 4 used cars.
Three are 4WD and one front.
Most have Tow packages, and one gets 50 MPG.
Together they all cost less than a third the price of a new 4WD and the insurance is about the same, one third.
You can thank Democrats for ALL your car problems.
You voted for them you get to eat the suck.
I’ll cruise along just fine without you.
No reality, please.
They don’t like it.
I was thinking more in the line of a late 60s or early 70s GM with a nice common V8.
There will be a bunch coming up from Florida real soon.
My dad has a big 70s Pontiac he bought at an estate sale a few years ago.
Very nice condition.
The gas gauge isn’t even close to accurate.
20 gallon tank.
12 miles per gallon.
Recommend 200 odo miles max.
Relief is on the way in a few weeks in the user car market.
There will be a “flood” of used cars from Florida hitting the markets around the country real cheap.
He’s used to legacy stuff being out of whack.
That car might be driven 20 or 30 miles in a month.
My Tacoma has gotten to the point where the fuel gauge is about a quarter tank off. The amount of driving I do is almost the same every week and nowadays I try not to drop below half.
He also has a Dodge turbo diesel that’s 90s era he bought used. Not long after buying it on a routine drive, as soon as the gauge hit a quarter tank, the tank is empty.
Same thing. They just changed the name. As they always do.
Probably the float or sending unit is bad. Drop the tank, replace it and reinstall. You’ll probably have to replace the rubber fuel lines, too.
Same here, and for more than I paid for it.
Let’s not forget that besides all the chip shortages and supply chain issues affecting vehicle production, it isn’t really all that long since Obama’s Cash for Clunkers stupidly removed many perfectly useful vehicles from the used market. There are still some minor reverberations from that affecting things as well.
