I understand, if this is true, Germany is SOL, as it will not be possible for Russia to get gas to Germany again, even if they become the best of friends.

Not right away, due to lack of US export capability. BUT, our capability is quickly increasing and soon we’ll be able to export much more natural gas and have to pay world prices, which is FAR HIGHER than what we now pay.
There is no capacity in the US to ship to Germany. There is no gas elsewhere. Germany is forked.
Pretty sure this is a feature not a bug.
We are already shipping as much LNG to Europe as our terminals can handle. That's one of the main reasons US gas prices have risen. I don't know how much US production is actually being sent, but someone recently proposed a cap of 30% of production on exports.
