it was horrible. we were to provide daily maid service for the evacuees. and literally if they pooped on the floors in front of us they were traumatized and we were to clean it up without comment. I wouldn’t mind serving food or cleaning rooms between occupants but daily maid service and cleaning poop? for adults? no thanks. Oh and since they were traumatized this was not the time to preach the Gospel so we were told no sharing the Gospel either.

This is so sad and degrading - for the volunteers and ultimately for the recipients. The pillars of our civilization have been terribly damaged.

I find myself more careful with every passing year where I donate money, time or surplus goods.

Funny thing. You need the gospel so much when you are traumatized.
