of Hurricane Ian at Myrtal Beach earlier...
Wow. Beautiful. I got to see one of those long ago when I was still in my teens from a little Cessna airdoodle. The pilot told me it was a very unusual treat. It was bittersweet, though, as it appeared above the new Tellico TVA dam which was then beginning to flood the homes and farms of people whose lands has been cruelly seized through Eminent Domain. These people were horribly mistreated, and it was awful to see the water flooding their homes from above.
Which for some reason makes me wonder whether the Gray Man has shown up:

He was known as “The Gray Man of Litchfield Beach” back when my family used to vacation in the area, but for some reason he’s since been claimed by Pawley’s. Well, they are close together.
Ian is a big old monster, so it looks like the entire SC coast will get it :( I love Edisto, too. Lots of happy memories there. Charleston and Savannah both such lovely old cities. Can’t help feeling sad. And worried for all in its path.
Amazing! I did not even know that a halo rainbow existed. These two Myrtle Beach pictures show both the beauty and the fury of nature. I hope and pray that Ian goes out into the Atlantic very soon.
Beautiful! Thanks for posting.
