Day late, dollar short, reasonably sure you already know, but SE Mom or others might not... a three phone charge or one tablet charge battery costs $10 to $15 at the Walmart Checkout counter. Get two minimum. Figure in a 12 volt cig lighter plug for the most convenience. Charge the batts in the car, outside, charge the phone inside, where the chocolate and tequila are. While you’re picking up the 12 volt plug and cable to match the batts, get a 120 volt inverter too. $15, $20... you won’t power your AC or dryer, but you can probably run a blender off it. Frozen Margies, in the midst of chaos....mmm.

I have an Ego battery inverter setup. Tonight it powered the microwave, heated up dinner and hot water for coffee. It was worth the hassle to haul it to evacuation location. Highly recommend for the serious power outage aficianado.

The emergency lighting in the hotel hallways failed several hours ago. Roof is leaking. No problem.

A bit late for the folks in Florida perhaps, but not for others who may still be impacted later on in this hurricane. I just ordered 2 external batteries for my MIL who is by herself, and she may get a power outage Friday or Saturday. Now she can power up her cell phone and iPad.
