My great aunt was a Fort Myers snowbird. She had a mobile home that got damaged heavily by Wilma. Between that and being widowed, she sold the mobile home and moved to a nearby adult community with more solid construction. She's no longer living, but both her former mobile home and her last rented home are likely to take on a lot of water from Ian. The mobile home might be ripped apart again.

I've long said I'll never live in Florida because of the tropical storms. I just don't want my primary residence to be quite so vulnerable. Disaster can strike anywhere, but this isn't my cup of tea. I'll settle for an occasional visit.
