Somewhere over the rainbow, indeed! Kenya Barris tells me that LGBTQ representation will be featured in his “Wizard of Oz” remake. “The original was an allegory and a reflection of the way the world was at the time with things like the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl,” says Barris, who will write and direct the reimagining for Warner Bros. “Now we’re going to turn a mirror on where we’re at right now and take disparate characters from the LGBTQ community, from different cultural communities and socioeconomic communities, and tell a story that reflects the world. I think this is the best time to do that.”
He understands a “Wizard of Oz” remake comes with tremendous pressure. “I’m nervous,” Barris tells me. “Hopefully, my movie can last as long as the original does.” He adds with a laugh: “Hopefully my movie comes out.”

I’ll pass.
So they’ll have real “Friends of Dorothy”.
This should be super great.
Of course nobody will notice that the original book is a political story complete with laws where to enter the Emerald City everyone is required to have colored spectacles locked onto their faces so as to see the city as the wizard mandates.
Glenda the good witch will be a tranny with those huge, fake breasts like the shop teacher in Ontario.
It’s going to be quite a job woke-izing the flying monkeys, isn’t it?
Another flop confirmed.
2.) Of course, 'The Message' has to be inserted everything to include -
- White man bad - Climate change - Capitalism bad
3.) Race swaps and gender changes everywhere except for the villians, they have to stay white, preferably male.
I miss anything?
One would think they’d have learned from “the Wiz”. Leave the classics alone.
I hope they spend a billion dollars in production.
Why must every little thing be sexualized, then dirtied up and slutted up? This is being done without any consideration that the prime consumers for most cartoons are children.
Kids don’t want or need that level of complication.
In other words; let’s not take the phrase “Fairy Tales” as a literal description. I assure you, that was not the original intent.
1. Guaranteed bomb
2. These idiots need to write original stories instead of corrupting classic stories
That is Sen. Wizard Oz
I suppose the wicked witch of the east will be portrayed by a Trump look-alike?
FWIW I think the original is only so so. Liked it a bit as a kid because there wasn’t much out there for fantasy, but really never thought it was all that great.
Gotta go out and ruin everything, don’t they?
May it fail
