Scott Adams lives in Pleasanton. He was a network engineer at Pacific Bell in San Ramon when he started the Dilbert comic strip, left Pac Bell when he became successful, and bought a 7,000 sq. ft. house in Pleasanton in the Bernal and Vineyard area.

I remember fifty three or so years ago when Al Capp introduced a black character and boy into his Li’L Abner comic strip.

Charles Schulz had a black kid named Franklin in Peanuts in 1968. I remember seeing a set of panels in which Charlie Brown asked him if he preferred to be called black, colored, African American, etc. He answered he'd rather be called Franklin.

Today someone somewhere would be screaming and yelling about this hatred.

I have to guess that Adams wants to end the grind of a daily strip like the guys who did “The Far Side” and “Calvin and Hobbes” wanted to but he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory rather than simply fading away.

Since they have CHOSEN to live in squalor on the streets and forswear the many social services available to them, what is he to do? Stop the car, drag them out of their hovels and berate them for their choice? Take them home for lunch? He's no more a douche than I am.

That’s hilarious! I used to read Dilbert daily way back when I had a newspaper delivered. Having worked in large engineering/construction companies for a long time, I had a special appreciation for that comic strip. It been too long.
