SO many people I know are cheering for Russia to get destroyed. IMO, Russia will absolutely NOT let that happen without taking down everyone else too. Which means using the nukes. Personally, I don’t want to be nuked because we stuck our nose in a long standing dispute that wasn’t ours anyway. I see no way Russia walks or runs away from this.

Except nukes means Russia is destroyed even more certainly than if they lose in Ukraine. The best solution for them is still for Russia to just go back to Russia where they belong.

For Russia to be destroyed, or for Russia to be pushed out of Ukraine? There is a huge difference. I personally know no one who wishes the destruction of Russia.
Russia has other Doomsday weapons besides nukes they can escalate with.
I have a feeling that you are right on the money. If it wouldn’t be for the US the war would be over by now as some of these war mongering idiots in our regime try to keep this war going come hell and high water. On the other hand, if the Ukrainians had any sense they would stick with Russia, along with an assurance of a certain amount of independence. It may not be the greatest being aligned with Russia but there are worse things than that. At least people would be still alive and have roof over their heads. Neither would I want to rely on US promises, as other countries have found out the hard way.
And contaminate every inch of the territory they went to war for: the natural resources; hydrocarbon production; agriculture; and poison the complete, total, secure access to the Crimea and their sub base there; along with those 10,000 summer dachas for mid-level communist proles.
