That old science fiction book I read about the future where everyone laid on a bed and stared at other people on screens day and night was prescient.

And there was the movie “Wall•e” where humans had become so inert, they could not get out of their chairs.

Don’t forget that in the film, the humans on the luxury liner ultimately overcome the robots who have been coddling them and keeping the captive, return to Earth, regain their strength, and re-establish civilization. Of course, the hero and heroine - robots WALL•E and EVE - must first bring those humans the proof that Earth has become habitable again, after all, igniting the spark.

All in all, a more hopeful outcome that whatever the NY State legislature thinks it is up to.
