I can’t think of one politician...except MAYBE DeSantis...that would truly put forth “Trump” ideas when the going gets tough in Washington. DeSantis might...but he’s untested against he pressure of Washington.
If Trump does not run, Desantis would need to run, or risk a great opportunity.

I can say that any GOP candidate that would do policy as Trump does will get the same treatment Trump has gotten. Already they are demonizing and threatening DeSantis.
Perhaps the problem is not the candidate, but the people who want a quiet wimpy phony who walks across the aisle and very quietly starts wars and stabs you in the back.
If it is a RINO, that won’t be an issue because that person will not win.
Not possible for Trump to run as VP after serving eight (non-consecutive) years as POTUS. It would be illegal.

There is no organized resistence to woke communism. Look at this forum. It is a sorry shell of what it was 15 years ago. What happened to the Free Republic local chapters? Serius question. I participated in the weekly anti-Clinton demonstrations in DC and went to events here in New Orleans. A handful of well off people fought the removal of the Lee statue for years, but there was zero attempts to have any regular large demonstrations at Lee Circle. The Confederate Memorial Hall people seem almost hostile to anyone who comes to purchase a paid admission. Now there is nothing at all. The so called traditional conservatives are like National Review, stooges and fellow travelers. Aside from DT personally and the force of his personality there is no real resistence movement. What is going on? There are millions of Americans who know their country is being stolen by the state but they have no mechanism to make their views clear. Why?With all his wealth, why does Trump not try and finance a grass roots pushback movement? There are plenty of straight, normal white men who would be more than happy to show up and would not mind engaged ANTIFA on their terms.
DjT will dismantle the hell-hole that is deep state. DeSantis would be fine, but better to follow Trump for another 8 years.

FYI, the vetting of vetters is underway now. Hundreds of peeps searching for thousands of peeps to run and staff all the vacancies that will result from a Trump 2nd term. Rookie mistakes of 2016 will not be repeated.
DeSantis won’t have the cred, or backing to pull off what must be done, but he can assume the task and carry it to completion from ‘28-’36 or a bit sooner if he signs on as VP and DjT must step aside for whatever reason.
The woke communists are very close to turning the US into a sort of ‘people’s republic’ in which opposition is equated with treason. The system you describe is virtually dead. We are approaching the point where it will be bullets not ballots that count and people have to understand the state thinks opposition is treason and does want to personally harm you.

I’ll vote for Trump if he gets the nomination, but I think DeSantis or even Cruz is the better option. We need someone who talks less and does more. Trump continually hurts himself and by association hurts the Republican Party and country by saying useless crap that just galvanizes the opposition, and gains him nothing. It would be much harder for the government to do to him what its done if he was a more sympathetic figure.

The vast majority of delegates are selected by primary voters, and required to vote in the first ballot for the person to whom they are plendged. If Trump runs, and wins a majority of primary votes, he'll win the nomination.
