LOL. Are you sure you are a veteran? In this case you should be able to see through the psy ops disseminated by media.

They volunteered to join the Wagner Group of mercenaries on the conditions that, if they live, their sentences are wiped - if they desert, they will be shot.

No, the career servicemen themselves lamented the lack of experienced officers and NCOs as many finished their 20 years in the early- and mid-60s. The attrition of many of those who had served in combat in WWII and Korea was a very real thing, and it was noted at the time. The trainers themselves were no longer men who had been the “tip of the spear” on multiple occasions.

The training of Lt. Calley was instrumental in his light punishment for My Lai.

Yeah, pretty sure, and since you are a professional Russian psy op guy and not an actual freeper who merely joined a conservative forum for conservative politics, it is rich that you mention psy ops.

I didn’t get that post at all, WWII guys? I didn’t see them when I was in, and my drill sergeants were hardened combat vets, while Tigerland was full of the scariest Green Beret and Ranger trainers, and Jungle Experts you can imagine.

We seem to have had very different military experiences.

When the war was starting in Vietnam (early 1960s), you had some experienced career servicemen who had served in WWII and/or Korea - and as the war went on, many put in their papers and retired (leaving the military with a dearth of experienced veterans to pass along the knowledge to new recruits).

The fact that you didn’t see them is a reflection of the problem; servicemen who had jungle experience in Asia/the Philippines were gone (though someone who served in the Pacific theater in 1944 could conceivable be reaching his 20th year of service in 1964). Many put in their papers after finishing their 20th year, especially if they served a tour in Vietnam; some reflected afterwards that the rules of engagement left them with an impossible - and dangerous - task. The American public as a whole was never told how much this was a civil war within South Vietnam as much as a North Vietnamese threat.

Most troops sent to Vietnam weren’t trained as Green Berets or Rangers; like LRRPs, those were more specialized (and rarer) troops, with experiences that many Vietnam veterans would describe as atypical.

Yeah, I know all that, our military during the Vietnam war was not the wide-eyed babes you seem to think they were, there is more to the Army and Marine Corps than WWII, and many of the Korea guys were still around although rarely seen since they would have been in an office.

You seemed to not have read what I said about the instructors at Tigerland since you think that meant all troops.

You seem to have learned everything about the 1960s/70s military from listening to other people and creating a hardened, ‘that’s it’ view, thanks for sharing.

I looked at my mention of Tigerland and now can see how you didn’t realize I meant the instructors when I was talking about how prevalent Special Forces, Rangers, and Jungle Experts were as cadre.

How is that Kherson offensive going? Only two more weeks to take Kherson before you pay off that bet you made.

First, your comments assume the Ukrainians and the Biden regime haven't and don't constantly lie. Both do.

Secondly, the Azovs and Ukrainians have used civilians as human shields and killed them if they tried to escape. I've seen the videos of the victims saying so. Amnesty International even admitted it.

And, the Ukrainian scumbags, with our approval, have targeted civilians in Donetsk and shelled a nuclear power plant, attempting to cause a nuclear meltdown.

Those are FACTS. The Biden regime is complicit in Ukraine's war crimes.

So let us consider some actual facts:

Russia and its allies captured the major industrial port city of Mariupol from frontline Ukrainian troops and are still in full control of that city.

Russia and its allies expelled the Ukrainian Army from the Luhansk Republic and are in full control there.

Russia and its allies are continuing to retake cities and villages in the Donetsk Republic and pushing Ukraine to the west.

Russia carried out a tactical retreat from the Kharkiv Oblast and moved those forces to the Donetsk region. Yes, they surrendered territory. They retreated.

During the current offensive, according to Ukrainian sources, Ukrainian troops are suffering at least 5 times the casualties of Russia and its allies.

Russia’s Air Force is intact and has suffered minimal losses while Ukraine’s Air Force has been erased.

Russia is producing its own missiles, rockets and artillery shells and is not dependent on another country to continue its fire missions while Ukraine is totally dependent, now, on western supplies.

In its current offensive in the Kharkiv oblast Ukraine has failed to carry out an operation in depth–its attacks have been confined to the frontlines while Russia’s artillery and missiles continue to rain down on exposed Ukrainian troops.

I did get that; how many had served even in Korea, and how many of them were there to disperse to train what would amount to more than 2 1/2 million troops?

The military of 1964 was very different from the military of 1972. Once it was clear we were leaving, there was little reason to even try.

I think you just don’t understand the military and military training at all, this sounds like old movie stuff, old cliches.

I don’t get that post, 1972 training was excellent and incredibly intense, with advanced methods of quick shooting training, booby traps, in fact, some felt that we had gone too far and were not doing enough training for a European war.

As far as your WWII crowd, odds are they were draftees since 93% of our WWII Army was drafted, my dad enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and was in Borneo when Pearl was attacked, my stepfather enlisted during Korea and served with the Marines as a Navy Corpsmen.

If you contrast WWII with Vietnam you will see that we produced many fine soldiers during the war and they fought a very intense and lonely war and frequently as small teams, as few as five.

“The average infantryman in the South Pacific during World War II saw about 40 days of combat in four years. The average infantryman in Vietnam saw about 240 days of combat in one year thanks to the mobility of the helicopter.”

The worst thing possible for civilians in a war zone is for the rapists, child molesters, murderers, and robbers to move into their city, with uniforms and guns and full authority to act out their wildest dreams and fantasies, and pathologies.

Like Telly Savalas' character in the Dirty Dozen. But, that was fiction, and he was one of 11, not 12 of 12, or as here, 400 of 400.
