Not incompetence. Intentional, purposeful and by design.

I read just this afternoon that one of the unions had voted to reject the offer but, they would postpone any further action so other unions could decide and pushed a final date to September 26/27. So, maybe there is a delay in the actual strike but, not sure Amtrak can respond quickly.

BNSF is moving how much oil to the refineries after Brandon nixed Keystone?

Is that a video representing the Biden administration’s success story?

It’s intentional.

They say there are over 800 known railroad songs. This is one I used to play over and over on John Hammond’s album So Many Roads. Other versions are good but I now place Joe Bonamassa’s Live From the Royal Albert Hall album at the top as best.

The poignancy of the man standing to look at the now totally empty darkness after the train took the woman he loves away was brought home to me this year when my dear wife died. I miss her.

So Many Roads

So many roads
So many trains to ride
So many roads
So many trains to ride

I’m gonna find my baby
Before I’ll be satisfied

I was standing at my window
When I heard that whistle blow
I was standing at my window
When I heard that whistle blow
I thought it was a straight line
But it was the B & O

It was a mean old fireman
And a cruel engineer
It was a mean old fireman
And a cruel engineer
That took my baby
And left me standing here

So many roads
So many trains to ride
So many roads
So many trains to ride
I’m gonna find my baby
Before I’ll be satisfied

On the bright side, now they’ll be able make their scheduled times.

And I thought it was because they weren’t electric trains.

At least Hitler made them run on time. What’s the matter with this pack of fascists?

Canceling trains is not disruptive?

Amtrak doesn't own the rail lines, the freight companies do.

Amtrak is probably afraid that freight trains will be stopped wherever they happen to be and will block the lines from other through traffic.

And, they might also be afraid that switchers and track dispatchers won't be on the job to monitor the routes.

Think of it as airlines canceling flights if air traffic controllers strike or certain airports have workers on strike.

My favorite train song is REM’s “Driver 8”

So the strike’s happening then, union giving advance notice to Brandon’s team?

here is what they want:

They would give workers an immediate 14% raise, as well as additional back pay for the hours they worked since 2020. There would be more raises going forward, resulting in a 24% pay increase over the five-year course of the contract that would run from 2020 to 2024, as well as annual cash bonuses of $1,000.

Amtrak will cancel all long-distance trains beginning on Thursday to avoid disruptions

The level of lack of self-awareness required to write that is HUUUGE! Sounds like "we had to destroy the village in order to save it".

I have no doubt that Biden is orchestrating this strike based on the economic harm it will inflict.

Business commenter said “Biden is known for siding with the unions and will probably do that again.”

Our wallets will feel the pain again.
