Leaving it to the states has been the conservative position over the years. Where did this national ban come from all of a sudden?

Of course the ban would never pass anyway because of the filibuster. Pence is well aware of that.

Wouldn’t matter if it did pass, since it would likely be struck down by the SC who just ruled on the issue and say it’s a state issue. So you’d need a supermajority to pass an amendment, not just enough to beat a filibuster.

Pence knows that’s an impossibility, so he has a different agenda in mind by bringing this up.
