But Charles II did go after the ones who executed his father. He had Oliver Cromwell’s body dug up from its grave, hanged and beheaded, and Cromwell’s head put on a spike on Westminster Hall. Years later someone took and hid it. It turned up in the 1960s and was then buried somewhere on the campus of Cambridge University.
