Will the panels last for 20 to 23 years?

In the spirit of carbon reduction, all federal buildings should have the thermostats at 80F summer, 65F winter

You’d think the FAA of all government agencies would be aware of the existence of cloudy days.

Particularly here in Oklahoma. We probably have as many cloudy days as we have clear. We have periods where we go days on end with thick cloud cover. What happens then?

Don’t they get tornados in Oklahoma?
To: nascarnation
OK. I just checked...Oklahoma City averages about 230 sunny days per year. That leaves, on average 135 cloudy/overcast days. Some years it is more. So...this should be interesting.

You’d think the FAA of all government agencies would be aware of the existence of cloudy days. I'm pretty sure they'll be using their emergency diesel generators on those cloudy days. Either that or they'll send everybody home.

I’m sure they will have backup from evil carbon based sources.

I suspect that, in Oklahoma, dust will be a far bigger problem than clouds.
I’ve seen figures that dust on the panels can impair their efficiency as much as 40%...

Don’t bet on it. I smell FAILURE, shutting down just one ATC regional facility for whatever unexpected event gridlocks the entire system, Stupidity.

From the article:"The Federal Aviation Administration United States taxpayers will pay nearly $4 million for its a taxpayer funded largest solar-power project yet, updating an air-traffic control and training center in Oklahoma.
To: mewzilla
I live in Upstate NY. We have had quite a few solar farms go up.
I have never seen the panels being cleaned.

I’m thinking of the problems with wind/solar in nearby TX last year. Remind me not to fly into OK.

So the panels need to last 20 to 23 years with no hail storms in between, got it.
