Markle was supposed to be at that dinner with the royal family and President Trump but used her son as an excuse, even though a few weeks prior she had taken a long trip and was able to somehow survive being away from her son but couldn’t handle a few hours for dinner. Later it was revealed she refused to go because she refused to be in the same room as President Trump.

There were several reports that back in 2004, Charles had refused to come to Balmoral unless the queen allowed Camilla to be named queen consort.
She was a model of public service, carrying on of tradition, and humility.
