To: A Navy Vet

I had the same thought...it has been a long time, and I thought we called it “Flight Deck Pay” but it might have been hazardous duty pay. And your memory is correct, they did have restrictions. So, if you went on a detachment about some carrier for two weeks, you didn’t get it, it had to be longer, as I recall.

And it wasn’t much (maybe $40 a month or something like that?)

LOL. Amazing I can recall anything about that at all!

I believe you’re right about being Flight Deck Pay at that time. I don’t remember the Hangar Deck guys getting extra. But then, I don’t remember what I had for dinner last night. Wait, I have to burp...standby...
