FWIW, I just finished an interesting book about the FBI written by a former agent who served as an assistant to J. Edgar Hoover. The Director: My Years Assisting J. Edgar Hoover– July 12, 2022
by Paul Letersky (Author), Gordon L. Dillow. It is available on one of the library apps: (Overdrive, Libby, or Hoopla so you can read it free). My take away from it is that we’d be a LOT better off now if he was still in charge rather, than the likes of Comey or Wray.
I agree with you. I believe the FBI began its politicization after JEH died and leadership thereafter did not come from the FBI. One judge and then DOJ attorneys appointed to lead the FBI ruined a great investigative agency.
