That's 50 years. The growth in GDP since 68 had been staggering. Imagine that kind of growth for another 50 years. How many Prudhoe Bays will you have to find to keep up with that?
Do you have any idea how much oil and shale gas is in the US? Most of it is recoverable even with current technology. The US also has vast amounts of coal.
