And that generation of students become the next generation of teachers, and on and on. It’s like a Russian doll.

I graduated from the Univ. of Calif. system in the 60s. I now get alumni calls trying to get me to give them some money. It’s usually from some young woman who is a student. She tells me that money I contribute will go to fund remedial programs and tutors for students who are having difficulty with their university courses.

It’s funny, I struggled with coursework and there were no tutors/special programs to help me. I was expected to suck it up, work harder or flunk out. I worked hard enough to get my degree in the expected four years motivated in part by my local Selective Service board.
