You ignore the facts to spout the cant. Trump as president was in charge of the classification status. He declassified by his sole decision. The documents in question were once classified but declassified by President Trump.

Classification status is not the issue.
Records of the president are public records, and according to the Presidential Records Act, they are to be turned over to the Archivist upon leaving office.
For example, if the president receives an itinerary for travel to Bedminster, and if he makes a note or marginalia on it, it becomes an original presidential document subject to permanent retention and must be turned over to the Archivist.
The rules are pretty similar to those that managers in corporations subject to discovery and court ordered document retention must follow.
