I will say that over the years I first found it astounding and incredulous, but now just find it amusing and contemptible that the people who bellow the loudest about “following the Consitution” are unwilling to follow this particular part of the Constitution.

The founders certainly did not imagine Congress being in exclusive control of the process of amending the legal foundations of the USA. They envisioned the states being vibrant, virile and active participants in framing how the Constitution would maintain those original immovable legal principles in a changing world. The people screaming loudest about how they would “preserve” the document only mean everything EXCEPT this part, I guess.

The document is dead. It is worthless.

It will only be used as a magical spell book to try and ward off evil doers by the people who believe in it and a tool to destroy their enemies by those who don’t believe in it.

I could take the Constitution and drop it into the middle of an African tribe and guess what it would do?......nothing. The people don’t have any fidelity to it so it is worthless.

The same people who currently ignore the meaning and the restrictions of the Constitution will ignore the purpose and process of an Article 5 convention and will not just do away with all of the good parts of the Constitution but they will add a “right to health care”, a “right not to be offended”, a “right not to fear for one’s safety”.
