The 1942-1945 US Navy and today’s navy are not the same.

Amen. That Navy was just bringing on this brand new technology called "radar" then. They could basically SEE the blips, but they weren't quite sure what they were. I believe they mistook them for some of our own Army aircraft.

There was a flight of B17 bombers scheduled to arrive at that time from the USA.

Problem was, the attacking planes were coming from a strange direction and it all was ignored.

The worst was....MacArthur ignored the whole thing and let his air force get destroyed in the Philippines.

That day was one total disaster.
