I have a friend/long-term business associate in Taiwan. His son just finished his mandatory, post-university 4-month military service. He did not fire a rifle one time during that period.
Its representative of how un-serious Taiwan is about their own defense.
“He did not fire a rifle one time during that period.”
What was his assignment? If he was, say, a nurse, maybe he didn’t have to.
In some militaries nurses go into the service, get commissioned, and never see a weapon.
I understand a lot of Taiwan’s military equipment is hidden in bases in the mountains (it is a mountainous country)
Wow. That’s insane.
