The thing that needs to be remembered is that Griner makes far more money playing in the Russian league than she does in the W.N.B.A. Playing in Russia is her main job, WNBA is a side gig although the media ignores this fact.
So when she was packing to get ready for her main job in Russia, it’s not as if she forgot to get ready to go and was in a rush and accidentally included the contraband. It’s also hard to believe that she would be ignorant of Russian laws and attitudes towards drug use. She’s likely not the only foreigner on her Russian team and likely not the only one on her team who misses getting high.
